Tricia Foster

Hello, I am Tricia Foster, an instructor in Literature and Composition, holding an MA in English Literature and an MFA in Creative Writing. Embracing my identity as a neurodivergent individual and as a magickal practitioner, I have come to believe in the uncanny, almost mystical power that resides within words and their ability to speak imagination into reality.

As a student of Reconstructionist Druidry who has an interest in genealogy, I have a deep appreciation of the past, the wisdom of our ancestors, and the interconnectedness of all beings, past, present, and future. As a proud member of the Scottish Highland Clan Donald, there is a special place in my heart for my Celtic heritage. However, I also believe in advocating for equality and diversity, particularly through the representation of marginalized characters. Representation, like symbols and myths, speaks to our subconscious mind and sparks our intuition, imagination, and belief systems.

As a writer I enjoy creating characters that readers can identify with. Representation that mirrors a reader’s personal experience and interests holds transformative power, affirming one’s sense of self and fostering a deep sense of validation. When individuals encounter characters and narratives that reflect their own identity, they feel seen, acknowledged, and understood in a profound way.

Of course, there is also transformative power in engaging with diverse characters who are different from ourselves. When readers immerse themselves in stories featuring diverse experiences, cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives, they embark on a journey of empathy and understanding.

This is the power of storytelling, one of my creative passions. Through my creativity, I strive to build a mystical, magickal life that is filled with the kind of joy that only we can build for ourselves.
